One of the best coffee shops I've ever been to. Outstanding food and coffee and the staff exemplifies Southern Hospitality! Plus the owners are very involved in promoting music and the arts in St. Francisville and the surrounding area. I highly recommend it!!

My favorite hangout in St. Francisville. Great service, charming atmosphere, wifi and very good breakfast food! Especially love the frozen Espresso and sweet potato waffles with blueberries & Steen's Cane Syrup!

I liked this coffee shop. The vibe was relaxing. I had a delicious mocha latte. Very much a vintage feel. Enjoyed my visit very much.

The sweet potato waffles were awesome. The Traditional breakfast and coffee were good. The service really sucked, and that is what will keep me from returning to this coffee shop. We went there this past Friday morning (2 days ago) and the guy in the fedora hat was our server. We placed our breakfast order along with our coffee order and asked for extra sugar, as there were only 2 packets on the table. He pointed to the 2 packets and said there's already some on the table. We told him we'd need more. When he brought our coffee, he brought 2 more packets. After awhile we had to flag him down for coffee refills and he came back with the coffee, we had to ask for more sugar. And when he returned, he brought...you guessed it...2 packs of sugar. Every time we asked him for something he rolled his eyes like this was the last place he wanted to be. We figured, no big deal...maybe he was just having a bad morning. We went back this morning, before heading back home, to give this place another shot and we got the fedora hat guy again. My wife even said maybe he'll be in better spirits than a couple days ago... Wrong. The coffee / sugar scenario was an exact replay of Friday morning, with the same rolling of the eyes. Should sugar at a Coffee Shop be such a big deal? After bringing us our coffee, he never returned to take our breakfast order. We had to ask a young lady behind the counter to take our order. This place needs to lose the fedora hat guy. We had such an awesome time in St Francisville and definitely will return to experience more of the area. Every place we went to made us feel so welcome and were so cheerful and friendly. This place, especially the fedora hat guy, definitely made us feel like "outsiders". They need not worry...we won't be back to bother them.

Rally good waffles and morning breakfast food, but get there early they stop serving food at 11am. Coffee isn't great, but the place is fun and give you the local vibe.

Saturday my mother and I were driving through St. Francisville and decided to stop and have breakfast. I had high hopes, as previous stops in the town had yielded pleasant experiences, not so this time. From first impressions Birdman Coffee and Books looks as if it has lots of potential. The inside is an interesting mish mash of art studio, book store and coffee shop. To start off we both ordered iced tea (1.50) and I also ordered coffee (1.60), so far, so good. The place was packed with local residents, who for the most part all seemed to know each other but we received our teas fairly quickly. The trouble started when we ordered. I ordered the low-carb selection (4.50), which consisted of 2 scrambled eggs with diced tomatoes, shredded cheddar and green onions with your choice of bacon or sausage patty, of which I chose bacon. My mother opted for the old stand by of a sausage biscuit (2.50). As mentioned earlier there were lots of diners that morning so when our meal took an inordinate amount of time to arrive I blamed it on the crowd and the likelihood that someone was in the back making fresh biscuits and frying bacon and sausage. Wow was I wrong! When our meal did arrive my 3 slices of bacon looked suspiciously like the pre-cooked kind I buy and warm in a skillet at home when in a rush and my mom reported to me that her sausage was actually cold. Upon greater inspection the sausage looked like the pre-cooked sort as well and the biscuit was of the frozen variety to boot. So, I returned the biscuit for my mom who is all too ready to forego breakfast at this point. And by this point I mean close to 45 minutes from when we arrived. While we are waiting for the return of a hot sausage biscuit I start on my eggs which appeared to be very well prepared. Not so, as I began to cut them with my fork I see the inside is a blob of unset and under done egg whites. By this time I'm ready for the check and to chalk this experience up to where not to spend a Saturday morning or any other morning for that matter. I will say the coffee was good but I had to request cream which came by way of 2 soggy individual containers and the wait staff was polite and apologetic as to the coldness and length of wait, neither of which were her fault . With all the traffic through the town of St. Francisville, plus the number of nice restaurants in the area I would have hoped places like Birdman would be held to a higher standard by the numerous amount of regular customers than they obviously are. Trust me you'd be have a better breakfast at the local McDonalds.

My wife and I with our youngest (4 year old) visited Friday. The most amazing sweet potato pancakes (the most amazing pancakes ever!!!) ever! Grits were amazing too! My wife doesn't even care for pancakes but couldn't stop eating them here. Great atmosphere and people and food. This is much better than deciding to drive to Baton Rouge for Breakfast! This is is place to come with the family or just the 2 of us to get away. Watch out! Whole family will be back next time.

Enjoyed 3 cappuccinos with my mom and aunt. Eclectic place that I can't wait to go back to.

Good waffle, but the service was quite slow. It seems everybody likes the sweet potato waffles, so I would go for those again. The atmosphere is nice as well.

Wonderful coffee and espresso drinks in a very friendly, local cafe with music, books, and good breakfasts in MUST SEE St. Francisville

It is really too bad that my new favorite breakfast place is 1,308 miles from my house.

Sweet potato waffles are one of the best things to have happened to waffles in a long time! Their breakfasts are simply the best we've found i the are and they even have some great healthy options! (the Good for you pancakes were heavenly and the birdman oatmeal was filling and delicious) We also grabbed a breakfast cookie which proved to be a great energy boost after a long afternoon in the heat. This is a great place to come in, sit and relax for a bit.
